This is grade 7 class on spelling , reading and writing lesson. Teaching learners on how to read some times is not working when a teacher uses alphabets. I prefer to use phonemes and I learnt that they learn to read faster unlike when the teacher uses alphabets.
E.G reading the word “cat” is easier when you let learners spell it like this “kh, e’ t’= cat. spell it they way you read it.
Listen to the video and comment on how to improve more. We have a reading problem in our school as such we try all sorts of approaches to reading in order to curb reading challenges.
I also uses spelling bee application to teach spelling. It also good in testing learners listening skills.
Beside that I use other foreign languages to train learners listening skills. They listen to the sounds and clicks made and then associate that with languages spoken in the world. They love it.
I realised that games are part of lessons in class. They learn more faster by playing educational games.
